In the mid 1990’s, an Evangelical Christian men’s movement called Promise Keepers swept America selling out football stadiums across the country for all-male worship session. Promise Keepers’ goal was to reclaim traditional masculinity and teach men how to be the spiritual leaders of their households.

Leaders of Promise Keepers spoke at anti-abortion rallies and sponsored initiatives to undermine gay rights laws in their communities. The movement reached its peak on October 4, 1997 at Stand in the Gap: A Sacred Assembly of Men when 800,000 men gathered in front of the White House to worship together. In 2020, Promise Keeper’s announced their relaunch.

The sound that accompanies the video is an ASMR collage of worship songs that the men in the film would have been singing.
